Final Project Progress 1

Over Thanksgiving Break, I found an artist named Pierre Le Hors who did a book called Firework Studies that are nothing more than just full page images of black & white fireworks. I immediately started going through some of my own firework images and try to create the same effect. I fell in love with the simple beauty of the firework shot. For my final project I wanted to work with the shots of my own and incorporate them with a construction I came up with in my Screenprinting class.

I want to take several prints, each with a different moment in the explosion of a firework and on a transparent/semi-transparent paper, and layer them in front of each other hanging from a box (see last image on post). This will then be backlight with a light in the box and hung from the wall. The visual idea is that when you look back into it you can see the firework slowly begin to erupt.

Time & Space pt 4

Here is an early idea for final composition. After making all these different works I had this idea of a triptych but with something overlapping all of them to bring them together.  Below is an early idea of something like that. Also, after it was mentioned in the critique that some of my images remind people of cave paintings if I didn't do the tree limb web thingy I might do one of those hands with splatter around it over the image.

Space & Time pt 3

Still playing with compositions & textures. (below is all ideas since Tuesday. I put them all in one section to show the progression from one to another)
